The captioned programme is designed to train advocates in the practice, procedure and skills in conducting prosecutions on fiat in the Magistrates’ courts. It will benefit those who wish to prosecute cases on behalf of the Department of Justice (DoJ). Members who complete the programme and perform satisfactorily at the mock trials can apply to join an assessment to be separately arranged by the DoJ to be considered for inclusion on the Prosecutions Division Magistrates’ Courts ‘B’ Fiat List.
There are 8 seminars covering pre-trial through to post-trial matters with 3 written assignments in between, an interactive seminar on performance skills, and a full day mock trial.
For the mock trial, participants will be partnered up and required to run a full trial based on the brief provided, and they will receive feedback on their performance from the Magistrates and trainers, followed by one-on-one video review and performance review. |
